Description
Surely Allah does not forgive that any partner be associated with Him but He will forgive anything less to whomsoever He pleases. For whoso associates partners with Allah has fabricated an enormous evil.' 'Dost thou not know of those who deem themselves pure? Nay it is Allah Who purifies whomsoever He pleases and they.' 'Behold how they fabricate a lie against Allah! Which in itself is sufficient as a flagrant sin.' 'Knowest thou of those who were given a share of the Book and now believe in evil things and in the transgressors and say of the disbelievers 'They are better guided in religion than those who believe.' I wish to Happy New Year to all the audience and viewers. 1997 is the year of the Mubahila and with the blessing of the Almighty God much was revealed in this year and much is to be revealed God willing. Verse Number 49 states that the Almighty God does not forgive one who associates partners with him. Other than that He would forgive whoever He wills. The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) explain this in an excerpt: The association of partners herein does not only mean the worship of stones and others things but that it is also idolatrous to worship the objective means and it is idolatrous to be obsessed with worldly beloveds (Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad - The Promised Messiah & Mahdi. 14 June 1903. 'Malfuzat: 3'. 344). In relation to the reality of repentance and the sincerity of repentance if one's ills are on the decrease it means that one's repentance is being accepted. Sura' al-Ahzab [The Confederates], Sura' al-Muminun [The Believers], Sura' al-Nahl [The Honeybee]: 120, Sura' al-Shura [The Consultation]: 26 and Sura' al-Maida [The Banquet]: 16, mention pardon and forgiveness except in cases of associating partners with Him. These verses mention the forgiven as clearly as the light of day. There are 2 meanings of يُزَكُّونَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ ['deem themselves pure'] in verse number 50 firstly those who wish to be praised and much lauded so that they can derive the benefit from it. Secondly those who consider themselves the pure although it is unscrupulous to call oneself the 'purifier'. The Prophets cover up their virtues. When a person exaggerated in praising another the Holy Prophet ﷺ said 'You have ruined him and broken his back'. Such things lead to guru worship where showing off is considered a virtue as well. So the Community should abstain from such trends. Do not carry idols with you everywhere you go. The Holy Prophet ﷺ also said 'Abstain from lauding one another for it is slaughter'. The meanings of الْجِبْتِ ['evil things'] from the commentary of Imam [Abul Qasim al-Hussayn bin Mufaddal bin Muhammad] al-Raghib. This includes idols, magicians and soothsayers. Moreover it admonishes against adopting frivolous customs. A massive Jihad ought to be carried out for this in Africa because although Africa has entered into the new age of light but one receives Reports about some Ahmadis too who indulge in magic and superstitious practices. If they do not desist from it then they will have no connection with God nor anything to do with belief. There is a verse by [Mirza Assadullah khan] Ghalib: We are monotheists, our way is the renunciation of vain customs When societies were erased, they became integral parts of faith ('Divan e Ghalib'). 1 January 1998. © MTA International / The Tahir Archive, 2014.
