Tarjumatul Quran - Surah al-Jathiya [Hobbling on the Knees]: 13 - 38

Verse 15: أَيَّامَ ٱللَّهِ ['The promised days of Allah'] here means the days of God's grabbing. Verse Number 17 speaks of the Children of Israel being granted the ٱلْكِتَبَ ['the Book'] and ٱلْحُكْمَ [the dominion'] and ٱلنُّبُوَّةَ ['the Prophethood']. ٱلْحُكْمَ has 2 meanings of wisdom and ruling and the Prophet David was granted both of these. Then Prophethood was added onto the sovereignty. In verse Number 18 ٱلْأَمْرِ ['the law'] means the Shariah. In verse Number 22 a criterion is mentioned that distinguishes between the believers and the troublemakers and the treacherous. A society of troublemakers and the treacherous is full of ills whereas a society of believers always inclines towards moving away from bad things. Allegations are raised about verse Number 24 because it is not understood. Anyone who worships their ego and their desires would always fall astray. These are such who are never satisfied at anything and if they are told the truth and shown it they can neither hear nor see it. 14 July 1998. © The Tahir Archive / MTA International, 2016.
