Description

And if you desire to take one wife in place of another and you have given one of them a treasure, take back not aught from them. Will you take it by calumny and with blatant sinfulness? And how can you take it when your have consorted together and they have taken from you a strong covenant? And marry not those women whom your fathers married with the exception of what is the past. It was shameful and loathsome and an evil custom. Forbidden to you are your mothers and your daughters and your sisters and your paternal aunts and your maternal aunts and your nieces from your brothers and your nieces from your sisters and your foster-mothers that have given you suck and your foster-sisters and your mother's in-law and your step-daughters who are your wards by your wives unto whom you have gone in - But if you have not gone in unto them there shall be no sin upon you - And the wives of your begotten sons; and to have 2 sisters together, except what has already passed; surely Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful. 11 January 1997. © The Tahir Archive, 2013.
